The thin white lines and grooves that traverse the carnal surface of TESSERA operate as a seismography of silence, transforming the canvas into a subtle listening device. These incisions do not act as rigid contours meant to delimit or imprison forms; on the contrary, they function as graphic records of a quiet vibration, visual syncopations or offbeats that deliberately interrupt the inertia of the expansive color to force the viewer to slow down their perception. Confronted with these grooves tearing through the burning plane, the gaze is compelled to practice a somatic and visual listening, an exercise in suspended attention that seeks to decipher the murmur of what lies latent between the geometric blocks. By painting and placing them in this scorched space, I perform a ritual of surrender and release: I completely relinquish control over interpretation and decide to let go of any closed meaning, leaving these geometric structures suspended on the canvas as open questions. It is in this renunciation that I entrust the painting to the viewer, inviting them to be the one who, through their own internal listening, completes the distant echo of these monoliths and inhabits the vibration of this silent territory.

Ultimately, TESSERA reveals itself as a sacred space where the coincidence of opposites finds a tactile and unifying shore: the burning and sensual warmth of color does not contradict the severity of formal detachment, but rather both merge into a single vibrating membrane. The detachment from traditional figuration becomes a pleasurable experience here, a hospitable surrender where silence is not absence, but an eloquence revealed only through the close listening of the pictorial plane. Maurizio Valch thus presents us with a territory liberated from the haste and urgency of the outside world, an intimate geography where matter sustains itself outside of all psychological time, inviting us to inhabit the pure presence of the painting and to let ourselves be gently consumed by its still fire.
