INTERVALLUM — Context Study
Five large horizontal divisions structure the surface of the painting, organizing the canvas into a rigorous system of chromatic strata. Viewed from an overhead perspective on the light wood floor, the piece establishes a floating axis of symmetry against the surrounding furniture, which includes the dense texture of a neutral rug and the warmth of a walnut sideboard. The acrylic and oil applied to the canvas reveal built-up impasto in the upper red band and fine linear incisions in the middle segment, where diluted vertical drips also breach the color boundaries. These material marks and linear structures subtly evoke thresholds and contained transitions, suggesting a transitional territory suspended between formal construction and its own dissolution. The visual journey is guided from the solidity of the upper plane, descending through the fluidity of the vertical lines, to settle in the silence of the lower green field.
