ADITUS — Context Study
A suspended white block, with its subtle drips, anchors the vertical composition of ADITUS. Maurizio Valch employs acrylic and oil on canvas to build expansive fields of deep blue, earthy brown, and intense black. The surface, worked in layers and glazes, gains a density that suggests a primordial territory. Fine incisions traverse these planes, delineating subtle divisions and contained horizons. Small rectangles of vibrant yellow and crimson red emerge as markers, creating a visual tension. Characteristic of the LIMINA series, the work organizes space into superimposed levels evoking thresholds. A discrete stepped form ascends towards an opening in a dark plane, suggesting a transition. The drips underscore the fluidity of the artistic process. ADITUS emanates a contained atmosphere, balancing stillness and material potency in its spatial relationships.
