Vertical abstract painting featuring deep red and burgundy tones. Multiple thin, white or light gray lines cross the textured surface horizontally. Small, reddish, highly textured quadrangular forms are irregularly dispersed across the composition. The artwork displays a pronounced material texture.
In STRATA VI — DISPERSA, Maurizio Valch creates a vertical painting featuring deep reds, incised lines, and suspended forms, exploring territorial stratification.

Conceptual Note

Against a field of deep reds that plunge into shadows, fine, light-toned lines emerge, drawing divisions that suggest contained horizons. These lines, with an undulating trace and appearing incised into the surface, traverse the vertical composition, generating a silent tension between stillness and the implied movement within the material.

The canvas surface, rendered with acrylic and oil, reveals a rich, material texture. Impasto and scraping create visible layers that expose the sedimentation of color, offering a tactile and almost geological presence. This surface depth underscores the artist's idea of territory as a space of origin and transformation.

Among these stratifications, small quadrangular forms, with a skin-like texture and lighter reddish hues, are dispersed. They rest like suspended monoliths or blocks, marking anchoring points within an abstract and contemplative territory. In the STRATA series, Maurizio Valch constructs a space where memory and origin manifest through matter, inviting a deliberate engagement and a deep interaction with the work within its environment.
