GRADUS — Context Study
The chromatic boundary between a bright yellow edge and a vast field of cobalt blue initiates the visual movement across the canvas. In this composition, a vertical rust-orange band aligns along the left, while two red quadrants suspended on fine white lines organize geometric tensions across the center and right. The surface reveals the layered application of oil and acrylic on canvas, showing a subtle, austere material texture. Within the SITUS series, these elements propose an abstract cartography of temporary thresholds and transitions. Viewed from an extreme low-angle perspective at floor level, where a metal star embedded in the concrete floor establishes the viewpoint, the vertical painting engages in a direct dialogue with the high exposed brick wall and the double-height volume of the industrial architecture.
