GRADUS — Context Study
Hanging on the exposed brick wall of a double-height loft, the large vertical canvas establishes a strong visual anchor that mirrors the surrounding industrial architecture. Under the focused track lighting, an incandescent yellow edge defines a rust-orange band along the left side. From this textured border, the composition opens into a spacious field of deep cobalt blue, where two subtle red blocks and fine white lines suspend within slightly tilted horizons. The contrast between the rough masonry wall and the smooth, layered color planes creates a sober and contemplative atmosphere. Titled GRADUS and belonging to the SITUS series, this oil and acrylic painting balances physical weight with linear lightness. The viewer's gaze moves naturally from the solid vertical element on the left into the quiet, open space of the blue field.
