A vertical abstract painting installed between two studio windows under a skylight. The canvas features diagonal bands of crimson red, cobalt blue, ochre, and earth green. Fine incised turquoise lines divide the color fields, and three isolated light-blue blocks rest on the inclined planes.

CLIVUS — Context Study

The rhythmic repetition of chromatic slopes and linear incisions strictly structures the vertical plane. The direct contrast between the central band of cobalt blue and the dense crimson at the top edge generates an optical vibration against the earthy warmth of the ochre and green fields below. On these inclined slopes, three small light-blue blocks sit in isolation, sustaining a play of weight and distance that creates tension across the surface. In this frontal view within a high-ceilinged, symmetrical atelier flanked by windows, the eighty by one hundred thirty centimeter canvas interacts with overhead light from a skylight. This illumination highlights the texture of the linen canvas and the turquoise pigment incisions applied with a palette knife.
