ATHAR — Context Study
Negative space and wide areas of chromatic silence organize the structure of this vertical canvas. The vibrant crimson color field is interrupted by the extreme fineness of four horizontal incisions, generating a strong visual tension with the small geometric blocks resting asymmetrically upon them. The surface, resolved through layers of acrylic and oil, shows subtle scrapings and glazes that lend an organic, changing vibration to the plane. When contemplating the work in the bright context of this studio, the composition invites one to trace the horizontal markings as potential traces of a suspended passage, where each prism acts as a point of resistance against the chromatic expansion. This dialogue of tensions is consolidated at the lower edge of the frame, where the red tones become denser and more opaque, showing the physical superposition of accumulated material.
