Strata IX — VESTIGIA — Context Study
Maurizio Valch's 'Strata IX — VESTIGIA' rises from a low angle, revealing its imposing verticality as it leans against a light-colored wall. The composition is dominated by a deep color field that shifts between garnet and burgundy, intensely absorbing the ambient light. Across this dense surface, several incised lines, subtly undulating and of a lighter reddish tone, extend horizontally, creating a sense of division and movement. Small rectangular forms, appearing as emerging blocks or thresholds, discreetly punctuate the chromatic field, adding points of light and volume. The materiality is evident in scrapings and glazes that build a stratified surface, perceptible under the warm light.
